GSMCritic Take:
The X500 Pro Max pairs a 200MP ZEISS APO telephoto with unrivaled video stabilization and a 7,800mAh battery that powers exceptional endurance, though the camera assembly's large footprint, telephoto accessory friction, and high price are the costs of a phone built almost entirely around shooting.

Pros
Camera
200MP ZEISS APO Telephoto: Outstanding telephoto and macro photography with proven zoom results holding through 10× magnification.
Optional Teleconverter Kit: Magnetic accessory extending telephoto reach, adding real creative value for dedicated shooters despite case dependence.
Strong Main and Low-Light Sensors: High-quality primary imaging with good low-light capture that covers versatile shooting across food, architecture, and portraits.
Unrivaled Video Stabilization: Class-leading stabilization paired with 4K at 240fps that's genuinely usable and an extensive creator feature set.
Phone Appearance
Premium Durable Build: High-quality materials and construction that give the device a durable, premium feel.
Display
6.85" 2K 144Hz OLED Display: Sharp, vibrant panel with 144Hz refresh carrying excellent gaming performance.
Battery
7,800mAh Battery with Fast Charging: Massive cell delivers exceptional endurance with both fast wired and wireless charging.
Software
OriginOS 7: Fresh, smooth, and fluid interface without bloatware or ad injection, backed by long software support.
Cons
Camera
Portrait Detail Smoothing: Portrait processing occasionally over-smooths fine facial detail past natural appearance.
Less Natural Photo Processing: General processing push sometimes leans processed rather than natural, noticeable to detail-oriented shooters.
Clunky Telephoto Accessory System: Teleconverter kit requires a separate case and additional purchase, adding friction for a feature that should be core.
Underwhelming Video LUTs: Built-in cinematic color-grading LUTs feel thin compared to the otherwise strong video feature set.
Performance
Sustained GPU Drop: GPU performance drops under extended heavy load, a transient throttling effect during sustained gaming.
Phone Appearance
Large Camera Bump: Camera assembly creates a top-heavy visual and physical presence.
Price
Pricey at Launch: Cost structure called needlessly expensive and repeated as such across multiple reviews.
Audio
Speaker Sound Quality: Audio output doesn't match the premium build tier the rest of the package sits in.
Availability
Lower Battery in European Model: EU unit ships with significantly reduced capacity compared to the global variant.
